Many people are familiar with the problem: When turning amplifiers on or off, an annoying "pop" noise emanates from the speakers or subwoofer. This is often caused by poor timing between the radio and amplifier or high power consumption, especially when multiple amplifiers are being turned on simultaneously. To prevent this, relays are often installed to delay switching, but this is a complicated and costly solution. ESX now offers a much simpler and more efficient alternative: the DRDS-14 4-Channel Remote Switch, which permanently resolves switching problems while protecting high-quality components.

To prevent amplifiers controlled by the remote signal from all starting up at the same time, the signal must be staggered for each amplifier. Put simply: as soon as the first amplifier is switched on, the second should follow with a short delay, then the third, and finally the fourth. This is precisely what the new DRDS14 enables. The switch has a remote input, which typically comes from the car radio or a DSP, as well as four remote outputs arranged next to each other. A time delay can be set individually for each output using buttons on the side. For example, the first output can be activated two seconds after the radio is switched on, the second five seconds after the first output, and so on – up to the fourth amplifier. The outputs can even be programmed in reverse order, independent of the switch-on delay, so that the amplifiers are switched off with a time delay and one after the other.

The DRDS-14 not only offers a digital voltage display, which can even be calibrated to match other nearby voltage displays such as buffer capacitors, but also has a sophisticated protection function: If an undervoltage or overvoltage occurs in the vehicle, the limits of which can be individually set, the connected components are automatically switched off to prevent them from being damaged.
